World Nineball Tour Events To Run Under Rules Of Pool Regulation Authority

Each tournament sanctioned by the World Professional Nineball Pool Corporation (WPNPC) will be held under the rules laid down by the Pool Regulation Authority (PRA).

The aim of the PRA is to be recognised as a regulatory authority for Pool worldwide with responsibility for providing and administering rules and regulations that will improve the image and profile of the sport within the professional and amateur ranks.

The PRA monitors betting patterns on Pool worldwide and is the point of contact for regulators and betting operators on any betting issues relating to Pool. The PRA will investigate any indications of suspicious betting activity to ensure that Nineball remains a trusted sport.

The PRA will also deal with disciplinary issues that arise from time to time through its disciplinary processes.

The PRA Board comprises of Nigel Mawer, Chris Hornby and Dave Jones, independent individuals who provide a cross-section of views and experience from different backgrounds.

They do not sit on the Board as a representative of any other body within Pool.

Matchroom Multi Sport CEO Emily Frazer said: “It is imperative that the World Nineball Tour maintains a level of transparency and fairness. We welcome the introduction of the PRA and look forward to working with them to ensure the correct procedures are maintained for a fair sport for all.”

The PRA will continue to assess and review the Code and Rules and will produce amendments and updates to the Conduct Regulations when appropriate.

Do these rules include how the game of 9-ball is to be played, replacing the World Standardized Rules, or is this more just about rules of conduct from a sports integrity perspective?
